All learner drivers will need to take a theory test before you can book your official driving test. The theory test is designed to test your knowledge of the Highway Code and ensure that you understand the principles of road safety, can follow road etiquette and anticipate potential dangers.
The theory test has two parts, with the first being a multiple choice section that has 50 questions. You’ll need to answers at least 43 questions correctly within a timeframe of 57 minutes. The second part is a hazard perception section, where you will watch a series of video clips that show a range of potential road hazards involving pedestrians, road users and conditions. To pass this section you will need to achieve a minimum score of 44 out of 75 points.
Both components of the theory test need to be passed at the same time before you can apply for your practical test. Ice Driving School can provide you with test training, advice and tips on all aspects of the Theory Test, so have a chat to your instructor to find out more about how we can help you prepare for this important part of your driving education.
